Balancing styles and emotions in a precarious back-and-forth between swaggering boom bap and wistful soul, the lyrics reflect on the songwriter's personal journey in unforgiving NYC with dark insight and proud honesty, battling demons and succumbing to doubt before, ultimately, resolving to do what comes most naturally: write a song.
